Hinckley reservation had many memories for our class. We almost always partied there.
On March 15th, 1974, we started our senior cut day there. However - due to our VOLUME -
in decibels as well as numbers - we were tossed out of Hinckley because of the Buzzards'
return.
We headed for Brushwood - just south of the Cuyahoga / Summit county border off
Brecksville Rd, where the party continued. In late March of 2006, I returned to take some
updated pictures.
Brushwood, however - had a major face-lift. A brand new ENCLOSED pavilion now stands
where the open aired one once did. The rest rooms on the hill are long since gone. Paths
we once waled on by the lake are no longer usable and the entire place has gone from
rustic to a major upgrade. This place might make a great reunion spot!

Hinckley remains clean - but mostly unchanged in the 32 years since
our consistent flocking to there. I am still awed by Nature's raw power
in the erosion, exposure and upheaval of these rock formations.
Equally, I am amazed at man's attempts at immortality by the carving of
names. In March - when I shot these pictures, it was 10+ degrees
above the freezing point - yet within the deep crevasses, the sun had
not yet melted away the icicles.

Brushwood, however, seems to have undergone a major renovation. As a result, many of the things I remember
are changed. I remember the bathroom atop the hill, where I first saw Bismarck Newman streaking across the
field from left to right - running like crazy down the hill. The pavilion where we huddled around the fireplace has
been enclosed and is available for the booking of parties.... HINT HINT! There now is a fire chimney for outdoor
fires. A path that a bunch of us walked on aside the lake is now blocked off. (Some idiot probably hurt himself
and sued). This place is very clean - landscaped and pristine.
